Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast, we begin our exploration in the heart of Lhasa at the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the 7th century, this ancient temple houses a revered statue of the 12-year-old Buddha and attracts countless pilgrims who prostrate themselves in devotion outside its doors.
Next, take a stroll through the vibrant Barkhor Street, a traditional kora (pilgrimage route) that circles Jokhang Temple. Here, you'll find shops selling prayer wheels, Tibetan incense, and thangka paintings, alongside locals and monks performing their daily rituals.
Then, we will make a stop at the charming Heavenly Post Office, a unique cultural site where travelers can send postcards from "the roof of the world." It’s a delightful experience that blends travel and memory in one.
Afterward, we head to Potala Palace Square, where you can admire the grandeur of the Potala from below and take memorable photos before climbing up to the magnificent Potala Palace itself. This architectural marvel once served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and is filled with gilded stupas, sacred relics, and historical treasures.
Our day ends with a peaceful walk in Zongjiao Lukang Park, located behind the Potala Palace. This serene park is a favorite spot among locals for afternoon strolls and offers a different angle to view the towering palace above the lake.
Evening Option:
In the evening, you may choose to enjoy a traditional Tibetan dinner accompanied by a cultural performance. Colorful dances and music offer insight into the customs of different Tibetan ethnic groups. Dinner shows typically start at 19:30 and last about 1.5 hours.

Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast, we head to Norbulingka, the “Summer Palace” of the Dalai Lamas. Built in the 18th century, it is a beautiful blend of Tibetan architecture and landscaped gardens. As you walk through the shaded pathways and visit the pavilions, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the lifestyle and political affairs of Tibetan leaders.
Next, we visit the Tibet Museum, which houses a rich collection of cultural relics, thangkas, ethnic costumes, and ancient scriptures. The museum offers a concise yet comprehensive introduction to Tibetan history, religion, art, and folklore.
In the afternoon, we make our way to Qianfo Cliff, or the Cliff of a Thousand Buddhas. This sacred site is adorned with countless rock carvings of Buddhist figures, some dating back over a thousand years. It’s a lesser-known but deeply spiritual stop that provides insight into the early spread of Buddhism in Tibet.
Our final stop today is the Yaowang Mountain Viewing Platform, a high vantage point overlooking the entire Potala Palace complex and central Lhasa. It’s one of the best places for panoramic photography and reflection.
Recommended Activities:
After the tour, consider exploring Lhasa’s charming old town independently. Visit local tea houses, shop for Tibetan handicrafts, or simply enjoy a cup of yak butter tea while observing local life. For the adventurous, an evening kora walk around Jokhang Temple with pilgrims is a deeply moving experience.
