The Name of Fairy Fate - From Rural Water Town to the Core of the Future
The name "Jinji Lake" is said to have originated from the Spring and Autumn Period, when the daughter of King Fuchai of Wu dropped a golden rooster here, carrying the ancient legend of Jiangnan. However, its true modern legend began in 1994. With the strategic implementation of the cooperation between the governments of China and Singapore in developing the Suzhou Industrial Park, this vast expanse of water and farmland located east of the ancient city has been prospectively planned as the core and soul of the future new city. Planners did not choose to fill the lake for land reclamation, but instead, with great foresight, preserved this natural water area and built a blueprint for a "lakeside business district" centered around it. From then on, Jinji Lake rose from a geographical name to a landmark symbol of Suzhou's modernization and internationalization.

The Road to Rebirth - From Planning Blueprint to Realistic Picture
The modern story of Jinji Lake is a model of urban development with an international perspective, scientific planning, and sustainable construction. Since the late 1990s, world-class architects and urban planning experts have gathered here to meticulously layout around the lakeshore. Landmark buildings such as the Oriental Gate, Suzhou Center, and Suzhou Cultural and Art Center have been transformed from blueprints to reality one by one. Infrastructure comes first, with public leisure facilities such as lake trails, music fountains, and yacht marinas being built one after another. Through years of continuous landscape lighting projects, the night view of Jinji Lake has become a nationally renowned urban landmark. Nowadays, this is not only a rare free and open scenic spot among national 5A level tourist attractions, but also a "city reception room" that integrates business, finance, culture, tourism, residence and other functions, vividly interpreting the modern urban development concept of "industry city integration and people-oriented".

Natural Creation - Dynamic Waters in the City Center
As a natural lake, Jinji Lake provides valuable breathing space and dynamic views for the steel forest like city. The open lake surface changes its expression with the changes of dawn, dusk, rain, and four seasons: the morning mist is like a veil, and the buildings on the other side are faintly visible; On a clear day, the blue waves shimmer and the white sails dot; The evening sunset paints the sky and lake a golden red, gently outlining the contours of the city. The carefully crafted lakeside trail and ecological park along the lake are not only a playground for citizens to run and exercise, but also an excellent place to observe the urban ecology. The fish schools and waterbirds released in the lake add a wild charm to the modern landscape.

Humanistic craftsmanship - a world-class architectural exhibition and art hall
The shock of Jinji Lake lies in its collection of masterpieces that represent the pinnacle of contemporary Chinese and world architectural art, gathered along the lake's perimeter. Together, they form an open-air architectural exhibition.
The Oriental Gate and Suzhou Center are absolute landmarks on the west bank of the lake. The Oriental Gate is famous for its unique "autumn pants" design, and the twin tower connected design symbolizes the "Gate of the World". Climbing above it, you can overlook the entire lake and the ancient city. The Suzhou Center at its feet is like a phoenix spreading its wings, the largest complex in East China, perfectly integrating commerce, life, and landscape.
Suzhou Cultural and Art Center is a cultural pearl on the east bank of the lake. Designed by world-renowned architect Paul Andreu, its unique "perlite" like shape and night changing lighting make it the most dazzling artistic eye on Jinji Lake.
Moonlight Pier and Yuanrong Times Square form the romantic commercial district of Hudong. The Moonlight Pier is semi-circular and deep into the lake, with European style buildings that are particularly charming under the night lights. The adjacent Yuanrong Times Square has a 500 meter long Tianmu Street, with a huge LED canopy above to perform fantastic scenes.
Li Gongdi is a century old winding embankment that extends into the lake and has now been transformed into an exquisite waterfront commercial district. Here, high-end dining, art galleries, and design hotels are gathered, perfectly combining historical context with modern fashion, making it the first choice for savoring Su style slow life.

Photography tips:
The best panoramic camera position is in the cultural water corridor or Linglong Bridge area in the east of the lake, which can capture the complete reflection of the buildings in the west of the lake in the water, especially in the clear twilight "blues moment".
Moonlight Pier is a classic foreground for capturing the night view of the Oriental Gate and Suzhou Cultural and Art Center across the river, using arched porticos or yachts as composition elements.
In the middle section of Li Gongdi, the beautiful curves of the long embankment and the bustling lights on both sides can be photographed. Under long exposure, the lake surface is as smooth as silk.
Drone aerial photography can showcase the grand pattern of coexistence and prosperity between Jinji Lake and Suzhou Industrial Park's checkerboard road network and skyscraper clusters.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
