The beauty of Yuexiu Park lies in its perfect integration of profound historical heritage and beautiful natural landscapes. The park consists of seven hills and three artificial lakes (Beixiu Lake, Nanxiu Lake, and Dongxiu Lake), with mountains and waters interdependent and natural scenery.
Cultural Treasures - Silent Stones and Architectural History Books
Every ancient site here is not a cold relic, but a living history book that carries legends and memories
-Five Sheep Stone Statue - Guangzhou's City Emblem and Mythology
This is not only the core landmark of the park, but also a symbol of the entire Guangzhou city. The stone statue originates from the mythological legend of "Five Immortals Riding Sheep and Giving Ears" to the people of Guangzhou. This giant work, carved from more than 130 granite blocks, is 11 meters high, with the main sheep holding rice ears in its mouth and smiling back. It embodies the entire origin of Guangzhou's nicknames "Yangcheng" and "Suicheng", and is a "life photo" background board that tourists must take photos of here.
-Zhenhai Tower - the first scenic spot in Lingnan
Also known as the "Five story Building", it is the most intact and imposing ancient architecture still existing in Guangzhou. It was first built in the 13th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1380), with a height of 28 meters. From the top of the tower, one can overlook the scenery of Yangcheng, making it one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Yangcheng" throughout history. Nowadays, as a museum in Guangzhou, it continues to tell the story of the city with its collection of cultural relics.
-Ming Dynasty Ancient City Wall - The Symbiotic Wonder of "Wall Embracing Trees"
This section of the city wall, which is over 1100 meters long, is the oldest surviving city wall in Guangzhou. The most breathtaking aspect is the tenacious interweaving of city walls and life: the roots of the old banyan tree are tightly intertwined with the bricks and stones of the ancient city, forming a unique scene of "walls embracing trees, trees embracing walls", known as the "wall root edge", which is a vivid symbol of the coexistence of natural vitality and historical relics.
-Zhongshan Monument - the spiritual lighthouse of the city's central axis
Built in memory of Sun Yat sen, the monument is 37 meters high and is located on the same axis as the Sun Yat sen Memorial Hall at the foot of the mountain, forming a solemn pattern of "front hall and back monument". The body of the monument is made of granite, surrounded by ancient wooden and cotton trees. In spring, when the red cotton is in full bloom, the heroic flowers reflect the magnificent spirit, and the scene is extremely magnificent.
Natural Elegance - Landscape Painting in the City Center
In the bustling urban center, Yuexiu Park has created a picturesque landscape filled with Lingnan charm.
-Three Lakes Reflecting Green - Beixiu, Nanxiu, Dongxiu Lakes
Three artificial lakes are scattered among the mountains like pearls, among which Beixiu Lake has the largest area. There is a small island connected to an arch bridge in the center of the lake, which allows tourists to row boats and play in the water. The lakeside is shaded by green trees, making it an excellent place to enjoy leisure time. Dongxiu Lake adds an ecological wildness to the habitat of black swans and white egrets.
-Yuxiu Lingpu - a dynamic melody in the mountains and forests
The "Yuxiuling Waterfall" located by the shore of Beixiu Lake is the highlight of the artificial waterfall landscape in the park. The water flows down from the stacked rockery, bringing crisp sounds and dynamic water vapor to the tranquil mountains and forests, forming a Chinese landscape painting that combines movement and stillness.
-Ecological Secret Realm - Breathing Urban Oxygen Chamber
As the largest green space in the central area of Guangzhou, the park has extremely rich flora and fauna resources. There are as many as 460 species of plants from 127 families and 43 species of birds in the park, making it a miniature subtropical ecological kingdom. Strolling through it, not only can you admire Lingnan characteristic plants such as banyan trees and kapok trees, but you may also encounter various birds in the forest and experience a true 'forest bath'.
