Origin: A barren mountain and a dream

A Blueprint for a Dream: Building a Cultural Tourism Flagship on the "Gold Coast"
In the early 21st century, tourism development along Shenzhen's eastern golden coastline was booming. OCT Group, building on its successful experience with "Splendid China" and "Window of the World," proposed a bolder vision: no longer limited to miniature urban landscapes, but creating an original, international-level eco-tourism resort destination amidst real mountains and rivers. In 2004, the OCT East project officially launched, its core concept being "bringing urban dwellers back to nature," imbuing nature with cultural soul and entertainment experiences—a pioneering attempt in China's themed tourism industry.

The Road to Building Dreams: From Barren Mountains to National Demonstration Zone
The construction of OCT East is an epic tale of transforming nature and creating dreams:
- Planning and Initial Phase (2004-2007): Faced with the existing traces of quarries and neglected forests in the Yantian area, the project established the principle of "planning first, ecology priority." Through systematic ecological restoration, a green foundation was laid for subsequent construction.
- The stunning debut of the two valleys (2007-2010): In 2007, Tea Valley, focusing on sightseeing and ecological experiences, opened first. Its Interlaken Town and Tea Master's Ancient Town, built around the Sanzhoutian Tea Garden, showcased romantic European and Eastern charm. In 2009, Grand Canyon, themed around dynamic entertainment, fully opened, featuring groundbreaking facilities such as the "Rapid River Ride" and the "Wooden Roller Coaster," causing a sensation. In 2010, Cloud Valley, including golf and outdoor adventure activities, began operation, forming a three-part structure.
- Upgrading and Development (2011-Present): The scenic area has been continuously improved, adding in-depth resort products such as Dahua Xing Temple, Interlaken Hot Springs, and a cluster of themed hotels, successfully transforming from a day-trip destination into a multi-day vacation destination. Its "tourism + ecology" model earned it the title of one of the first "National Eco-tourism Demonstration Zones," making it a benchmark in China's cultural tourism industry.

Nature's Creation—A Three-Dimensional Painting of Mountains, Seas, Forests, and Springs
The defining feature of OCT East is its unique combination of mountain and sea views in eastern Shenzhen.

- The sea of clouds over the tea plantations of Sanzhoutian:
The heart of Tea Valley lies the undulating Sanzhoutian Tea Plantation. Enveloped in mist year-round, the verdant tea fields create graceful curves. Traveling through the forest by miniature train is like stepping into a refreshing pastoral painting. In the early morning or after rain, magnificent seas of clouds often appear, with mountains and European-style towns appearing and disappearing in the clouds, creating a scene of ethereal beauty.

- The coastal mountains of the Grand Canyon:
Grand Canyon is nestled against green mountains and faces Dapeng Bay. From the "Peak of Success" viewing platform or the "Sea of Clouds Cableway," you can simultaneously overlook the thrilling facilities of the canyon and the distant blue sea, taking in the spectacular scenery of mountains, sea, and city. This is a unique viewing perspective in Shenzhen.

- The dynamism of wetlands and waterfalls:
In the Tea Valley Wetland Garden, water lilies, lotus flowers, and various aquatic plants form a tranquil ecosystem, making it a great place for birdwatching and photography. Meanwhile, the Grand Canyon utilizes the mountain's terrain to create multi-tiered artificial waterfalls and streams; the roaring water and lush vegetation together create a cool valley atmosphere.

Humanistic craftsmanship – a dreamlike scene with a cross-cultural theme
The architecture and landscape here are artistic creations that blend world cultures with Eastern culture, nestled between mountains and sea.

Interlaken (Tea Valley): A charming Swiss-style town. Its vibrant European architecture, tranquil lakeside, elegant covered bridges, and floating white swans create an atmosphere of ultimate romance and relaxation, making it a popular location for wedding photos and portraits.
- Chaweng Ancient Town (Tea Valley): Separated from Interlaken by a river, it offers a completely different Chinese pastoral experience. With its blue bricks and gray tiles, and the fragrant aroma of tea houses, you can experience the entire process of tea picking, tea making, and tea tasting, and feel the profoundness of Chinese tea culture.
- Haifeld Town (Grand Canyon): A California-style neighborhood themed around wine culture. The street is lined with European-style buildings, often features street performances, and ends at a giant canopy where audiovisual extravaganzas are staged regularly.
- Dahua Xing Temple: A Buddhist temple located on "Guanyin Sitting on a Lotus" Mountain. Its golden "Free and Easy Guanyin" statue shines brightly in the sunlight. The temple is simple and solemn, providing a spiritual sanctuary in the bustling resort area, and also symbolizing the profound heritage of Eastern culture.

Photography Tips:
Best vantage points: The Yunhai Cableway cabin is a mobile viewing platform for capturing panoramic views of the mountains and sea; the shores of Interlaken Lake offer opportunities to photograph complete European-style architecture and its reflection in the lake; and the square in front of Dahua Xing Temple provides a view of the Guanyin statue and distant mountains.
Golden hours: At sunrise, photograph the sea of clouds over the tea mountains in Tea Valley; at sunset, photograph the golden sunset spreading across the mountains and sea from the "Peak of Perfection" at Grand Canyon or from the cable car.
Unique Experience: The Interlaken and Heifetz towns are illuminated at night, making it a great time to capture night scenes and colorful themes.

Five things you must do to unlock the complete vacation experience
1. Take a ride on a forest train that travels between mountains and sea.
- Experience: This is a romantic mode of transportation connecting Tea Valley and Grand Canyon. The red train slowly travels through forests, canyons, and tunnels, offering picturesque scenery along the way, making it a fun and whimsical sightseeing journey in itself.
2. Unleash your passion amidst the "roaring torrents" and "daring to brave the rapids".
- Location: Grand Canyon. The former is a large-scale live water stunt show with spectacular explosions, water slides, and flames; the latter is a classic water attraction where you plunge into the water at a near-vertical angle from a height of 26 meters, a must-do in summer.
3. Soak in a mountain hot spring with a scenic view.
- Option: Interlaken Hot Springs. Relaxing in the mineral-rich hot spring pools while enjoying the beautiful lake and mountain views outside the window is a top-notch experience for eliminating travel fatigue and enjoying a vacation.
4. Enjoy a cup of green tea that you picked and processed yourself.
- Experience: In the tea gardens of Chaweng Ancient Town, learn tea-picking techniques from tea farmers, experience tea-frying in the workshop, and finally brew a cup of the new tea you helped make with spring water, which has a particularly unique taste.
5. Stay one night in a themed hotel to continue the dream.
- Options: From the Swiss castle-style Interlaken Hotel to the train-themed Black Forest Hotel, or the Caffe Hotel, each hotel is an extension of the themed experience, greatly enhancing the immersiveness of the vacation.

Suggested tour routes
One-day "Highlights & Activities" tour (suitable for those with limited time and who prioritize efficiency):

- Afternoon: Take the forest train from Grand Canyon to Tea Valley. Highlights include Interlaken Town and Tea Master's Ancient Town, experiencing the transition from dynamic to tranquil atmospheres.

Two-day "deep vacation" tour (highly recommended, fully experience the charm of mountains and sea):
Day 1: Arrive in the morning and check into a themed hotel (such as Interlaken Hotel). In the afternoon, focus on exploring the Grand Canyon, experiencing various rides and watching shows like "Roaring Torrent." In the evening, dine at a mountaintop restaurant and enjoy the sunset. Enjoy the Interlaken Hot Springs in the evening.
Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a leisurely tour of the Tea Valley. Take a ride on the miniature train, stroll through the Interlaken town and wetland gardens, and experience tea culture in the Tea Master's Ancient Town. How to get there: Nestled between mountains and the sea, with convenient transportation.
OCT East boasts a prime location, but due to its mountainous location, the way to get there requires careful consideration.
- Public Transportation:
- Subway + Bus: Take Subway Line 8 to "Yantian Road" Station, then transfer to bus M520/M362, etc., to "OCT East" Station.
- Tourist shuttle bus: On holidays or weekends, check if there are tourist shuttle buses running from the city center to OCT East.
- By car/taxi (highly recommended): Navigate to "OCT East Grand Canyon Parking Lot" or your booked hotel. There are shuttle buses between different sections of the park, but driving or taking a taxi is still the most flexible option.
- Important note: Roads to Dameisha and OCT East are very congested on weekends and holidays, so be sure to leave as early as possible.

Best time to visit
Spring and autumn are the best seasons; summer is for water activities; and winter is for hot springs.
- Best seasons: Spring (March-May) and Autumn (October-December), when the weather is cool and pleasant, making it the best time for outdoor excursions and hiking, and when the flowers and plants in Tea Valley are at their most lush.
Summer Tips: Summer (June-September) is hot and rainy, but the water activities at the Grand Canyon are an excellent choice. Be sure to take precautions against sunburn, heatstroke, and sudden thunderstorms.
- Winter Highlights: Winter (December-February) sees fewer tourists, making it a great time for hot springs and a peaceful getaway. Some outdoor water activities may be closed.

Accommodation options
- A cluster of themed hotels within the scenic area (preferred choice for an immersive experience):
Interlaken Hotel: European castle style, built by the lake, luxurious facilities, the most complete experience.
- Black Forest Hotel/Waterfall Hotel/Kako Inn: Each has a distinct theme (such as train, water elements, containers), and offers relatively better value for money, making them suitable for families and young travelers.
- Hotels around Dameisha (flexible and economical options):
There are many sea-view hotels and guesthouses near Dameisha Beach Park, with a wide range of prices. You can take a walk on the beach in the evening, but you need to take a car to the park every day (about a 10-15 minute drive).

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
