Origin: The Gateway of Water and Land and the Cradle of Urban Night Culture

Origin of Bridge Name - Combination of Practicality and Poetry
The name "Nine Eyed Bridge" is derived from its most prominent architectural feature: nine circular arch bridge holes arranged side by side at the lower part of the bridge. This design is not only for aesthetics, but also has important practical functions: while ensuring the stability of the bridge structure, it maximizes the water crossing section during flood season, reduces the impact on the bridge body, and embodies the wisdom of ancient craftsmen. There is also a legend in the folk that the nine bridge holes symbolize the "Nine Dragons Governing Water", with auspicious meanings of calming the water and blessing the peace of the area. At night, the bridge opening, lights and river water work together to form the "18th month" reflection spectacle, which adds the poetic beauty of "moving with different scenery" like Chinese classical gardens to this pragmatic ancient bridge.

Renewal Road - From Transportation Hub to Cultural Landmark
The hundreds of years of history of Jiuyan Bridge is a vivid urban history that has evolved from pure transportation facilities to a complex landmark of urban culture
During the Ming and Qing dynasties' transportation period (1593-20th century), as an important hub connecting water and land transportation outside the east gate of Chengdu, it was once a bustling port for merchants and boats, and a key gateway for Chengdu to connect to the Yangtze River waterway and the outside world through the Fu River.
Modern transportation and functional transformation (2020-90s): With the development of modern land transportation, its water transportation function gradually declined, but its status as a city landmark and historical building remained unchanged. The old bridge was rebuilt near its original site in 1992 due to transportation needs, but the name and cultural imagery of the "Nine Eyed Bridge" were fully preserved and transferred to the new bridge.
Night economy and cultural explosion (late 1990s present): With the development and consumption upgrading of Chengdu city, the riverside area by the bridge has spontaneously formed a block centered on characteristic bars, small pubs, and music venues. Local youth, artists, and foreign tourists quickly gathered here, nurturing a free, diverse, and vibrant street culture. The "Nine Eyed Bridge Bar Street" has since become a resounding business card of Chengdu's nightlife, where the weight of the ancient bridge and the hustle and bustle of the night coexist in a wonderful way.

Natural Creation - Jinjiang and the Natural Stage of Light and Shadow
The beauty of Jiuyan Bridge cannot be separated from the unique atmosphere created by the Jinjiang River (Funan River) it is situated on and the light of the sky and moon.
Jinjiang Night Moon: A Flowing Picture of the City
In the evening, the surface of Jinjiang River shimmered with shimmering waves under the sunset glow. Climbing onto the bridgehead or strolling along the riverside trail, one can see the skyline of modern buildings on the opposite bank gradually lit up, complementing the ancient Anshun Corridor Bridge (adjacent to the antique style Wind and Rain Corridor Bridge). The river is like a dark green ribbon, gently separating and cleverly connecting classical and modern, quiet and bustling, forming a flowing Chengdu night scene scroll.
The Visual Magic of 'Nine Eyes and Eighteen Months'
This is the most representative spectacle exclusive to the Nine Eyed Bridge. On clear moonlit nights or when the lights are on, the landscape lights installed in the nine bridge openings light up, and the warm yellow halo reflects in the calm river water, forming a perfect symmetry with the real bridge openings. At first glance, the Nine Holes transform into eighteen 'Moons', indistinguishable from reality and illusion, like a dream. This scene perfectly embodies the artistic conception of "mirror flowers, water moon" in traditional Chinese aesthetics, and is a moment that photography enthusiasts must wait for.
The Four Seasons Light and Shadow of Binjiang Trail
The ecological riverside trail built along both sides of the Jinjiang River is planted with trees such as ginkgo and weeping willows. The four seasons change, and the scenery of the trail varies: spring willows brush the shore, summer nights are cool, autumn leaves are gilded, and winter fog is hazy. At all times, this is an excellent place for citizens to take walks, run, and ride bikes, as well as a window for tourists to observe the daily leisure life of Chengdu people.

Humanistic Craftsmanship - The Coexistence of Ancient Bridge Style and New Business Models
Every building here and every awakening at night tells the story of the city.
Aesthetics of Ancient Bridge Architecture: The Combination of Strength and Beauty
The newly built Nine Eyed Bridge, although not the original, fully inherits the shape and charm of the ancient bridge. The grand stone bridge body, quaint railings, and symmetrical nine hole arches display a simple, majestic, and stable sense of power during the day. The bridge itself is a huge public artwork, carrying the collective memory of Chengdu people.
Anshun Corridor Bridge: The 'Cultural Living Room' on the Jinjiang River
The Anshun Corridor Bridge, adjacent to the Jiuyan Bridge, is a magnificent ancient style wind and rain corridor bridge building. With double eaves and carved beams and painted rafters, the whole body is bright and resplendent at night, just like a palace lying on the Jinjiang River. There are restaurants and tea houses on the bridge, which is an excellent high point for enjoying the panoramic view of the Nine Eyed Bridge and the scenery on both sides. It has also become one of the most eye-catching focuses in the night view of Jinjiang.
Bar Street and Music Scene: The Pulse of Urban Vitality
The most representative nightlife area in Chengdu is composed of bars, small pubs, and Livehouse music venues extending along the Yangtze River, with Jiuyan Bridge as the center. There are diverse styles here, ranging from quiet atmosphere bars to lively performing arts bars, from folk singing to electronic music, everything is available. After nightfall, the sounds of music, laughter, and river water interweave to form the youthful, inclusive, and enjoyable urban temperament of Chengdu. This is not only a place for consumption, but also a showcase of contemporary Chengdu urban culture and new lifestyles.

Photography tips:
The classic camera position of "Nine Eyes and Eighteen Months" is located on the riverside walkway downstream or upstream of the bridge. Using a tripod for long exposure, it can capture a dreamy effect of light reflection like a golden full moon.
Panoramic and cultural facilities can be accessed on the second floor of the Anshun Corridor Bridge, or near the Shangri La Hotel on the opposite bank, where the Nine Eyed Bridge, Anshun Corridor Bridge, and modern architectural complex can be included in the picture. The filming of citizens' lives and neon lights on the bar street on the Binjiang Trail also has a strong sense of storytelling.

Core Experience: Immersive Rongcheng Nightlife Guide

Furong Ancient Town

Four Must Do Things to Unlock the Complete Night of the Nine Eyed Bridge
1. Climbing the bridge and strolling, touching the four hundred year old city rings
At dusk, personally walk up to the Nine Eyes Bridge and touch the thick stone railing. Looking from one bridge opening to another, feel the rhythm of light and structure. Imagine the bustling scene of boats shuttling here a hundred years ago, and experience the layering and intersection of historical time and space here.
2. Night tour of Jinjiang, looking at Chengdu from a different perspective
At the pier near Jiuyan Bridge, take an antique Jinjiang cruise ship. As the cruise ship slowly passed through the bridge opening, the dazzling lights on both sides unfolded like a painting scroll, sweeping past the Anshun corridor bridge, bar street, and modern buildings one by one. Appreciating this city from the perspective of the water center will provide a completely different and more cinematic experience than strolling on land.
3. Choose a favorite small restaurant, go to a bar, listen to music, and chat about life
Don't pursue the busiest venue. Strolling slowly along Binjiang Road, you can instinctively enter a small tavern or Livehouse with music that suits your taste and a comfortable atmosphere. Order a drink, listen to a live performance by a local band, or simply gaze out the window at the river and neon lights, experiencing the unique relaxation and comfort of Chengdu at night.
4. Join the late night cafeteria and end the night with delicious food
After experiencing the bar culture, it is necessary to integrate into Chengdu's "late night canteen". Near the bridgehead and in the streets and alleys behind it, there are barbecue stalls, hot pot restaurants, hoof flower soup, and noodle shops that open until early morning. In the cool night breeze, having a steaming hot local supper and chatting with friends is the most authentic and fulfilling closing ceremony of Chengdu's nightlife.

Furong Ancient Town

How to reach: Seamless Connection Guide
Jiuyan Bridge is located in the center of Chengdu city, with a well-developed transportation network and extremely convenient.
Public transportation (preferred): Take Chengdu Metro Line 2 to "Niuwangmiao Station" or Line 6 to "Shunjiang Road Station", and walk for about 10-15 minutes after exiting the station. Multiple bus routes (such as Route 18, Route 21, Route 68, Route 152, etc.) also have "Jiuyanqiao South" or "Jiuyanqiao West" stations.
Self driving/taxi: navigate to "Jiuyan Bridge" or "Anshun Corridor Bridge". The area has a high flow of people and vehicles at night, with limited parking spaces and potential risks of drunk driving. It is strongly recommended to use public transportation or take a taxi to get there.
Departing from the airport/train station: It is convenient to reach Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport or Chengdu East Station by subway (transfer required), and the journey takes about 40-60 minutes.

Best Travel Time
Jiuyan Bridge can be visited all year round, but the pleasant climate in spring, autumn, and summer from dusk to night is the best time to experience it.
Spring and Autumn Golden Season (March May, September November): The temperature is comfortable, and it is very pleasant to stroll by the river or sit outdoors at night. When the ginkgo trees turn golden in autumn, the scenery of Binjiang Road is particularly beautiful.
Summer (June August): The nights are cool and the river breeze brushes my face, making it the peak season for bar hopping and outdoor activities, with the most lively atmosphere. But attention should be paid to mosquito prevention.
Winter (December February): The temperature is lower, but the bar room is warm, and during holiday periods (such as Christmas, New Year's Day, and Spring Festival), the neighborhood decoration is full of atmosphere. Pay attention to keeping warm while traveling.

 Tourist Etiquette and Precautions
Civilized drinking: While enjoying bar culture, please drink rationally and avoid excessive amounts. Respect others and maintain a moderate volume.
Safety first: For nighttime activities, please travel together and choose a legitimate business location. When leaving, it is recommended to use a regular taxi app or public transportation.
Respect the environment: Please do not throw debris into the Jinjiang River and take care of the public facilities and greenery along the riverside walkway.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
