Red Memories—The Epic Song of the Red Army's Three Crossings of the Grasslands
Zoige is not only a stunningly beautiful grassland, but also a land that carries red memories. From late August to early September 1935,the three main forces of the First,Second, and Fourth Front Armies of the Chinese Workers'and Peasants'Red Army all entered Gansu from Sichuan via Zoige. Most of the grasslands traversed by the Red Army during the Long March were within Zoige's borders. This place witnessed the most arduous part of the Red Army's Long March—crossing vast swamps and overcoming the harsh cold of the plateau. The"Brazil Conference,"a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, was held here, writing an indelible red chapter in the history of this grassland.

The Path of Protection—From Grassland to National Park
The modern story of the Zoige Grassland is an era-defining chapter on ecological protection and green development:

Ecological Tragedy(Second Half of the 20th Century):Overgrazing and wetland drainage led to grassland degradation, swamp shrinkage, and threats to biodiversity.

Awakening and Protection(Early 21st Century):The Zoige Wetland was designated a national nature reserve, and projects such as returning grazing land to grassland and wetland restoration were launched.

Systematic Governance(Since 2022):The Zoige National Park creation plan was approved, making it the first national park creation area in China with the alpine peat swamp wetland ecosystem as its core.In 2023,ecological protection and restoration projects covered a cumulative area of232,500 hectares, and the number of black-necked cranes increased from over 400 to over 2,000.

Green Development(Ongoing):The integration of animal husbandry and tourism is flourishing, transforming traditional pastoral villages into"million-dollar collective economy villages,"vividly demonstrating the concept that"green mountains and clear waters are invaluable assets."

Nature's Creation—A Vast Landscape Under the Sky
The natural landscape of the Zoige Grassland is an eternal symphony of heaven, earth, water, and life.

Winding Waters:The Yellow River's First Kiss and the Grassland's Lifeblood
The First Bend of the Yellow River:This is the soul of the Zoige Grassland. The Yellow River rushes down from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, carving a magnificent"S-shaped"bend within Tangke Town,Zoige County, forming the world-renowned wonder of the"First Bend of the Yellow River."At sunset, golden rays bathe the river's surface, making the winding river resemble a flowing golden ribbon, reflecting the vast grasslands and distant mountains. The best time to view it is between 6 and 7 pm.Climb to the viewing platform or take the 538-meter-long escalator to the top for a panoramic view.On rain-free and fog-free days, you can witness the breathtaking sight of the Yellow River flowing down from the sky.Photography tip:It is recommended to bring a telephoto lens and a tripod.Capture the most magnificent moment of the Yellow River's winding course when the sun is just below the horizon and the sky is ablaze with red clouds.

Huahu(Flower Lake):Located in the heart of the Zoige Wetland, this high-altitude lake is known as the"Mirror of the Sky."Its crystal-clear waters reflect the blue sky and white clouds. From mid-June to mid-July each year, colorful wildflowers bloom around the lake, resembling stars scattered across the earth. This is the only habitat in the world for the black-necked crane, which breeds and lives on the plateau.Flocks of waterbirds frolic in the lake, while black-necked cranes leisurely stroll along its shores.Visitors can stroll along the gently sloping wooden boardwalk, experiencing the tranquility and vitality of the wetlands up close.Photography tip:Shoot best at dawn or dusk when the light is soft, and the reflections in the lake will create stunning images;every snapshot will be a masterpiece.

Moon Bay:Located in Hongyuan County,a neighboring county of Zoige, the river meanders across the grassland like a gentle crescent moon.At dawn and dusk, the sunlight turns the river golden, contrasting beautifully with the surrounding grasslands and mountains, making it a paradise for photographers.

Vast Plain:The Earth's Kidneys and a Highland Oasis
Re'er Dam:The core area ofthe Zoige Grassland, where endless green meadows stretch to the horizon like a green ocean. In summer, wildflowers bloom in vibrant colors, and yaks and sheep dot the landscape like pearls, creating a natural highland pastoral scene. There are no fences or entrance fees;visitors are free to explore, stopping whenever they like to experience the vastness and freedom of the grassland.

Zoige Wetland:As one of China's three major wetlands,Zoige Wetland is the world's highest-altitude and largest plateau peat bog. This"kidney of the earth"not only nourishes countless creatures but also provides abundant water for the Yellow River.Numerous small lakes are scattered throughout the wetland, their waters azure blue, and streams connect them like vines, forming a vibrant waterscape.

The Charm of Life:A Breathing Plateau Ecological Capsule
The complete ecosystem of the Zoige Grassland nurtures a rich variety of wild flora and fauna. It is a habitat for rare birds such as the black-necked crane and the common coot,as well as wild animals like the sika deer and Tibetan fox.Adorable marmots can be seen everywhere on the grassland. In late spring and early summer, wildflowers, rhododendrons, and orchids bloom in profusion, adorning the grassland with vibrant colors.Hiking through it,breathing in the pure air of the 3500-meter-high plateau, every breath is a cleansing and healing experience for both body and mind.

The natural landscape of the Zoige Grassland is far more than just"viewing";it's about"immersion"and"feeling."Here, wind, water, light, and shadow weave together a flowing tapestry.

Humanistic Ingenuity—Faith and Life on the Tibetan Plateau
The culture here possesses not only the solemnity of faith but also the warmth of daily life.

Langmusi:"Little Switzerland of the East."The Bailong River, less than 2 meters wide, flows through the town, dividing it into Gansu and Sichuan provinces—the north bank is Gansu's"Anduo Dacang Langmusi Monastery,"and the south bank is Sichuan's"Gerdeng Monastery."Lamaist temples and mosques face each other across the river, and the Tibetan and Hui ethnic groups coexist peacefully."Langmusi"means"fairy"in Tibetan, named after a legend that a fairy transformed into a mountain rock. The temples are built against the mountains and beside the river, with halls and monks'quarters cascading down the mountainside in a harmonious and magnificent display, hailed by tourists from home and abroad as a"fairyland"and a"natural Tibetan folk museum."

Wache Pagoda Forest:A sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism,it boasts over 80 white stupas and a magnificent array of prayer flags.A gentle breeze causes the prayer flags to flutter, rustling softly,as if whispering ancient beliefs and prayers. Here, you can not only experience a rich religious atmosphere but also admire the exquisite art of Tibetan architecture.

Tibetan Homestays:A heartwarming glimpse into the heart of the grasslands.Step into a herder's tent, enjoy a bowl of steaming butter tea, savor authentic barley tsampa and hand-pulled yak meat, dance the Guozhuang dance around a bonfire, and listen to the melodious pastoral songs sung by Tibetan people. In recent years,Zoige has vigorously developed integrated pastoral tourism homestays. The"Ling Prince"homestay in Dazha Temple Town, with its blend of Han and Tibetan architectural styles,Tibetan hot pot restaurant, and"Zangbake"coffee and bookstore, offers tourists a unique experience of"staying in a homestay, enjoying delicious food, and exploring the grasslands."The"Hot Spring+Stargazing"homestay campsite in Heta Village,Hongxing Town, perfectly combines highland hot springs with the starry grassland sky, attracting countless travelers seeking healing.

Photography Tips:
The best panoramic viewpoint is at the viewing platform of the First Bend of the Yellow River, encompassing the S-shaped bend of the river,Sokzang Monastery, and distant mountains;the Flower Lake boardwalk is ideal for capturing tranquil scenes of wetland reflections and waterbirds;Moon Bay is a superb location for photographing the sunset over the grassland river, where the crescent-shaped river appears like a golden ribbon in the evening light;Langmusi is perfect for capturing the"Oriental Little Switzerland"charm where Tibetan Buddhist architecture blends with canyon scenery.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal!
